Orientation with practice?
Available from us with the B.O.P. in Bramsche!
Around 700 young people took the opportunity to experience professions up close in Bramsche: At the 13th careers orientation course (B.O.P.), the Hauptschule and Realschule Bramsche opened their doors for two days to a total of 55 regional companies, which presented more than 100 training occupations - in a practical, vivid and direct exchange.

Family evening sets a special example
The family evening, to which parents accompanied their 14 to 17-year-old children, was once again very popular. They gained their own impression of the regional training market and were able to give their children specific advice.
"When young people, parents and companies get talking to each other, sustainable prospects are created. This is precisely what makes the B.O.P. so valuable," emphasised Lars Hellmers, CEO of MaßArbeit.
Prepared participants - intensive dialogue
The young people from eight schools in Bramsche and Wallenhorst were prepared in detail in class. They documented their progress in a logbook:
- the selected companies
- Content and impressions from discussions
- the work samples at the stands
- Suitable school subjects and requirements
"The B.O.P. is an integral part of our careers guidance programme," explained Dorte Hierse, headmistress of the Hauptschule Bramsche. "Here, the young people experience professions with all their senses. No textbook can replace that."
Personal impressions of the young people
Many participants took away impressive experiences.
14-year-old Ole (IGS Bramsche) described:
"I found the Federal Police exciting, but also agriculture. I was even allowed to make a spice mix at the Chamber of Agriculture stand."
His mum added: "I think it's great that we as parents are welcome and how varied the programme is."
Merle (15, from Merzen) also used the opportunity to talk directly to companies:
"I want to do something with children and understand how the professions of nursery teacher and curative education nurse differ."
Her mother particularly appreciated the opportunity to ask questions directly. At the same time, Merle's brother was looking for a career in the trades.
Cooperation as a model for success
The B.O.P. is a close cooperation between the town of Bramsche, MaßArbeit and the Bramsche secondary school - a format that has proven its worth for years.
"We are proud that together we have created an offer that really reaches young people," said Anette Marewitz, Deputy Mayor.
"This is where contacts are made that lead to training and work - that is real future security for the region."
Regional companies show great diversity
The companies presented themselves with illustrative work samples:
- Laboratory analyses at Leiber GmbH,
- practical horticultural work,
- metal processing,
- manual activities in various trades,
- technical tasks at LEAR Corporation and other companies.
The exchange with trainees, who are often former pupils from the region themselves, was particularly valuable.
Increased demand - successful model catches on
The development clearly shows that the concept is working:
"We used to have to run after the companies. Today, we have to limit participation to 50 to 60 companies," explained Klaus Sandhaus (Bramsche Economic Development Agency).
More than just information brochures
To ensure that the discussions were targeted, giveaways were not distributed directly, but collected and raffled off in a tombola. There was also a sausage barbecue organised by the support association and musical accompaniment.
